Cooking School
"A unique experience in the spectacular setting of Bella Coola on the coast of British Columbia"
All instruction is personally conducted by Thérèse(Terry) Corbould. Terry earned an exceptional cooking reputation over the years, and then perfected her culinary skills as the chef of Tweedsmuir Lodge in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. She published her own cookbook, in both French and English, in 1991.
A member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Terry has attended several European cookery schools, including La Cuisine de Marie-Blanche in Paris, Chianti in Tuscany and Castelvechhi near Radda, Luna Convento in Amalfi, Fulvia Sesani's school in Venice and Mas de Cornud in Provence.
Program DetailsEach course is limited to a maximum of four live-in, and two local participants. A minimum of two students is required for each course.
SAMPLE DAY PROGRAMS
Morning
Prepare gourmet picnic lunch.Late morning flight by float plane up the spectacular Talchako Valley to the Turner Lake chain. Overfly breathtaking Hunlen Falls (850' free drop), land on Turner Lake and hike to the falls (20 minutes). Lunch at falls overlook. Float plane overflies magnificent Coastal Range glaciers on the way back to Bella Coola.Afternoon Free
Evening Casual dinner (optional participation in cooking).
Historic and Prehistoric Bella Coola
Morning
Drive to Bella Coola. Tour valley, prehistoric petroglyphs, Indian School and village, commercial fishing base. Picnic lunch at Clayton Falls.
Afternoon Cooking class and dinner.
